Synopsis

All her life, Tanvi has been told she is different, but no less—a truth she embraces as she sets out to achieve the impossible. With her mother‘s unwavering belief and her grandfather‘s hesitant yet growing support, this young autistic woman dares to stand where her late father never could—at the world‘s highest battlefield.

Tanvi The Great is a poignant tale of love, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of a girl who, against all odds and perceptions, turns hope into triumph. The film stars Shubhangi, Anupam Kher, Iain Glen, Pallavi Joshi, Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Nassar, Karan Tacker and Arvind Swamy.

Director’s Note

Stories find us in the most unexpected ways. For me, it began with my sister‘s then 13-year-old autistic daughter, Tanvi—a girl whose honesty, warmth, and guileless spirit made me question why the world wasn‘t more like her. She had a voice that could quiet chaos, a presence that made life feel simpler, purer. Since she lived far from Mumbai, our meetings were occasional, but every time I saw her, I left feeling lighter—as if she had gifted me a new way of seeing the world.

One evening, at a family wedding on December 26, 2022, I found her standing apart from the celebrations, gazing into the distance. Curious, I asked, ―Tanvi, what are you looking at?‖ She replied, ―I am looking at my world.‖ That moment changed me.

I wanted to bring that world to the screen—the world of a mind untouched by pretense, a heart unburdened by expectation. With only one possible title: Tanvi The Great.

Your helping Shubhangi (Tanvi) during the shoot was priceless. You make the perfect Brig. Rao. Jai Hind!
